Dictation that never leaves your Mac.

Press your shortcut, talk, and clean text lands wherever your cursor is. Speech recognition and cleanup run on your Mac, so it works offline, with no account and nothing uploaded.

SubjectThursday review
Can we move the review to Thursday afternoon? I have a conflict in the morning.

It types where your cursor is.

It works in Mail, Notes, your chat apps, your code editor and any browser tab, without plug-ins or extensions. On iPhone, the PrivateWispr keyboard does the same in any app.

  1. Press your shortcut

In any text field on your Mac. Choose your own shortcut in Settings: a key combination, or a modifier key on its own, like Option. On iPhone, tap the mic on the PrivateWispr keyboard.

  2. Talk the way you think

Pause, restart, say "um". Smart Cleanup drops the filler words and false starts on your device (in the app on iPhone; keyboard takes get filler-word cleanup).

  3. Press again and it types

Clean, punctuated text appears at your cursor. On Mac, your clipboard is put back afterwards, unless you copy something new in the meantime.

One voice, the right tone for each app.

On Mac, Style sets the punctuation for each kind of app, so a note to a friend reads differently from a note to a client. Pick one:

Hi Rosalind, thanks for the Q3 numbers. They look right to me. Can we lock the board deck by Thursday afternoon?

An email Style: Polished

Meeting notes with no bot in the call.

Press Start Meeting Notes and PrivateWispr writes a live transcript on your device. On Mac it records your microphone and the sound of the call. When you stop, it removes filler words and labels who spoke.

Nothing joins your call
No assistant joins your video call or shows up in its participant list. Your Mac records the call's sound itself.
Speaker labels
PrivateWispr works out who spoke when on your Mac or iPhone after the meeting ends. On Mac it labels your microphone You and splits the call into Speaker 1, Speaker 2.
Headphones are fine
The Mac takes the other side of the call from the system audio, so it still hears them while you wear headphones.
Upcoming meetings
Connect Calendar on your Mac and the dictation bar lists your next meetings with a Take notes button. Calendar stays off until you connect it.

Summarize the three decisions from this morning's review and draft the follow-up ticket for Thursday.
You send it when you are ready.

Send it on. Teach it your words.

On Mac, every dictation on Home has a send button. Pick an AI chat, a chat app, Mail or Notes and PrivateWispr puts the text there for you to send. Teach it your names and shortcuts once and it uses them in every app.

Dictionary
Say "post gres" and get Postgres. Say "cube control" and get kubectl. Names like Nasrin and Dr. Okafor come out spelled right. Mac and iPhone.
Snippets
Say "my email" or "sign off" and the full text lands. Mac and iPhone.
Voice Actions
Select text, hold the Voice Actions shortcut and say what to change. The rewrite happens on your Mac.

Your voice is not cloud data.

  • Your voice, text and notes stay on your device.
  • It never records or screenshots your screen, and PrivateWispr trains no model on what you say. On Mac it reads text in other apps only for Voice Actions (the text you select) and when you send a dictation to an app (to check its text box is empty).

On-device, compared with cloud dictation.

Most dictation apps send your voice to a server to be transcribed. Here is what changes when the work happens on your Mac instead, including where the cloud apps come out ahead.

Common questions.

Anything else? Write to support@privatewispr.com or read the support page.

No. Speech recognition, Smart Cleanup and meeting transcription run on your device, and your recordings, transcripts and notes stay there. The app connects to the internet to download its models, and on Mac to check a licence key and look for updates. None of those requests include anything you said. The privacy policy lists every connection.
Any Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 15 or later. It does not run on Intel Macs. The speech model takes about 470 MB and Smart Cleanup about 1.4 GB of disk. The download page walks through the first launch.
Yes, once the models have downloaded. One caveat on Mac: a Pro licence checks in once a day, and if your Mac can't reach the licence server for more than 7 days, it falls back to the free plan until it connects again. Dictation keeps working within the free limits.
Not yet. It is coming soon, with its own keyboard and its own plans through the App Store. A Mac licence will not unlock it, and the free word limits differ between the two apps.
No. They are separate purchases. The iPhone plans are App Store subscriptions. The Mac plan is a licence key you buy from our store, run by Polar. Each one unlocks its own app.
Pro ($9.99 a month or $99.99 a year) removes the word limit. Max ($14.99 a month or $139.99 a year) also removes the meeting limit. On Mac there is one paid plan, Pro ($14.99 a month or $139.99 a year), and it removes both limits.
On Mac, PrivateWispr records your microphone and the call's sound from the Mac itself, so nobody new appears in the participant list. On iPhone it records through the phone's microphone. Ask everyone for consent before you record them.
It depends on you. Most people speak faster than they type, and a Stanford study of phone keyboards found the same. On Mac, the Insights page shows your own speaking speed, so you can compare.
An iPhone keyboard can't use the microphone, so the PrivateWispr app records and transcribes. Full Access lets the keyboard talk to its own app on the phone. Keyboard takes get filler-word cleanup; full Smart Cleanup runs when you dictate inside the app. The keyboard opens no network connection and doesn't read your clipboard.

Download it. Then turn Wi-Fi off.

After the first model download, dictation, cleanup and meeting notes keep working with no connection at all.
